Chabad's 21st Anniversary  - Annual L'chaim Celebration- May 2006

More than 200 friends and supporters gathered at the McAllister Auditorium to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Chabad Lubavitch of South Texas. Long-time supporters of Chabad, Mr. Robbie Greenblum, a well known San Antonio attorney and Mrs. Judy Gruber a well known activist in the Jewish community were honored.

After a delicious dinner, guests were seated for the formal program. Mr. Stan & Marcelle Schnitzer chaired the event. and welcomed the guests.Rabbi Yossi Marrus, program director of Chabad delivered the Dvar Torah and invocation.

Chabad Hebrew School student Jacob Ratner thanked Chabad and talked about his experiences in Hebrew School, Camp at Preschool, which he has attended since the age of three. Major Ande Mass, ret. spoke fondly of the rabbis and how Chabad brought him back to Judaism.

Rabbi Chaim Block, executive director of Chabad presented the honorees with beautiful sterling silver challah boards and thanked everyone for supporting the important activities of Chabad.

Following the award presentations, the crowd was treated to a special live performance with comedian Wayne Cotter. "Mr. Cotter has appeared withe Johnny Carson, David Letterman, and Jay Leno and we are very proud to bring this world-class performer to our community" said Rabbi Chaim Block.
